Autodidact Community Enthusiasts Mission Statement
A.C.E.'s mission is to provide a place for families to share their talents
and interests to help promote learning and social interaction through varied
creative endeavors.
A.C.E's parents will build a child-led alternative learning cooperative
which:
-serves as a meeting and sharing place for the
homeschooling/unschooling community
-provides the opportunity for children of all ages to participate
-is sparked and facilitated by community volunteers
-encourages self directed learning -fosters youth leadership
-promotes learning for its intrinsic value
-enhances the natural curiosity of children
Toward this end, the A.C.E. will: -operate on volunteer power
-nurture an environment of voluntary cooperation and mutual respect
-make decisions by discussion and consensus
-use available free community space, and give back to the space
provider through community service
-maintain tools and resources such as:
-a database with listing of member talents, interests, areas
of expertise
-online discussion group
-web page with interactive calendar
-virtual sharing library and opportunity to swap or hand
down educational materials
The A.C.E. will not:
-charge for membership, although individual members may
agree to share expenses for any event involving cost
-elect a ruling board of officers separate from the general
membership
-incur expenses or accumulate money
-babysit or take responsibility for your children
-promote any religious belief
A.C.E. members will be expected to:
-participate in a way which brings them joy!
-be self responsible; parents to remain on site with their
children, or make private arrangements with another attending parent
-clean up after themselves (leave no trace)
